What's it about?
The ‘Integrating Gender and Sex Informed Evidence into Tobacco Control Policy and Practice: What Works?’ is part of the Gender and Health Webinar Series that host timely debates on ‘how to do’ gender in health. In this session, we will explore what can be done with the current evidence and where gender-specific tobacco control efforts should be concentrated to improve the health and wellbeing of women, girls, and other marginalised groups.

What you'll learn?
The tobacco industry aggressively targets women, adolescents and LGBTQI groups, with worrying trends of increasing tobacco use among them. Currently, 2.15 million women die each year due to tobacco use – 71% of whom live in low- and middle-income countries- and more than 30,000 tobacco-related deaths are among LGBTQI people every year.
The importance of approaching tobacco control from a more comprehensive gendered perspective remains critical. Unfortunately, evidence to inform tobacco control policies and programmes for women and other marginalised groups is lacking, especially in the global South.
In this online session, you’ll learn to create more gender-equitable, contextualised, tobacco control responses.
