events of the Asian Regional Conference for WSIS on 11-12 January

implemented on 11-12 January 2002 in support of the side events.

Internet Cafe will be set up on the UNU 5F during the two days
of events with generous support from Fujitsu, the BHN Association
and GLOCOM.

About the World
Summit on the Information Society (WSIS)
The World Summit on the Information
Society will take place in two parts in 2003 (Geneva) and
2005 (Tunis). It will provide an important opportunity for all
key stakeholders to assemble at a high-level gathering and to
develop a better understanding of potential implications of the
Information Society for the entire globe.
The Summit will bring together Heads of State, Executive Heads
of United Nations agencies, industry leaders, non-governmental
organizations, media representatives and civil society in order
to explore and develop measures designed to smooth the spread
of the benefits of the information technology revolution to all
parts of the international community.
The second preparatory committee for the WSIS will take place
in Geneva from 17-28 February 2003.
