On the occasion of the 49th Session of the Council of the United Nations University (UNU), I would like to extend an invitation to you to attend the 3rd Annual Michio Nagai Memorial Lecture to be held on Thursday, 12 December 2002, beginning at 17.00 hours in the U Thant International Conference Hall (3rd Floor) of UN House, Tokyo. The annual Michio Nagai Memorial Lecture is organized to pay tribute to the important contributions made by the late Prof. Michio Nagai, a former Minister of Education of Japan, to the development of UNU and to the internationalization of higher education in Japan.
This year's lecture will be given by Prof. Akito Arima, Former Minister of Education and Former President of the University of Tokyo. The theme of Prof. Arima's lecture will be:
"The Future of Higher Education in Japan"
Prof. Arima's lecture will be followed by a brief question and answer session.
Following the lecture an Apéritif will be held from 18.30 - 20.00 hours in the 2nd floor Reception Hall.
