セミナーのねらい    Objectives 　国連大学グローバル・セミナー第１回金沢セッションが、「地球規模の課題と国連」をテーマに平成１３年１１月１９日から２２日までの４日間にわたり北陸の金沢で開催されます。 国連大学グローバル・セミナーは、国連をとりまく諸問題について、学生や若い社会人の方々に深い関心と問題意識を持っていただくことを目的に開かれています。その開催地は全国の主要地域に広がり、湘南、神戸、北海道、沖縄、島根に続いて、今回初めて北陸でのセッションを開催する運びとなりました。 　国連大学、国連大学高等研究所、並びにいしかわ国際協力研究機構が主催する当セミナーには、国連職員を含む内外の専門家を講師として招き、テーマに沿ったグローバルな視点からの講義に続き、セミナー受講者との意見交換・議論を４日間、合宿形式で繰り広げます。 　今年のセミナーは、「地球規模の課題と国連」という全体テーマについての２つの基調講演と個別のテーマについての７つの講義から成り、国連は、現代の国際社会が直面している諸問題とどのように取り組んでいるのかを、「人間の安全保障」「持続可能な発展」「国連と市民社会」「課題と展望」など、様々な視点から検討します。 　金沢セッションでは、他のセッションと同様に講義は原則として英語･日本語両方で行われ、通訳は付きません。 基調講演は同時通訳付きで、公開講座となり、一般の方々も無料で参加できますので、どうぞこの機会に多数ご聴講ください。 　国際問題に関心のある方、国際社会での活動を希望する方は、北陸地方はもとより日本全国からの積極的な応募をお待ちいたしております。  The United Nations University Global Seminars are aimed at deepening the understanding among students and young professionals in Japan of pressing issues that are the concern of the United Nations, its member states and their people. Initially an annual event in Kanagawa Prefecture, the series has been extended to include additional annual sessions in Kobe, Hokkaido, Shimane, Okinawa and, with Kanazawa, now extends to the Hokuriku area.  The inaugural United Nations University Global Seminar - Kanazawa Session will be held on the theme of "Global Issues and the United Nations" from 19 to 22 November 2001. It is jointly organized by the United Nations University (UNU/Centre), the United Nations University Institute of Advanced Studies (UNU/IAS) and the Ishikawa International Cooperation Research Centre (IICRC).  The seminar brings together distinguished scholars and practitioners from both Japan and abroad, who will not only give lectures, but also engage in an active exchange with the participants throughout the four day seminar. Two keynote lectures giving an overview of the theme of the seminar will be followed by seven lectures on specific issue areas including human security, sustainable development, the role of civil society, and future challenges and prospects for the United Nations. In addition to these lectures, participants will have an opportunity for in-depth discussion of the issues raised during group discussion sessions.  As is the case with the other UNU Global Seminars, lectures will be given in either English or Japanese. Simultaneous interpretation will be available for the keynote speeches only, which interested members of the public are cordially invited to attend.  If you are interested in issues of global concern, or interested in an international career, you are most welcome to participate. We welcome applications from the Hokuriku region and from all over Japan.

参加申込要領 Summary of Application
参加資格：	原則として、日本の大学院、大学の専門課程に在籍する学生及び留学生で、国際問題に興味のある方。専攻分野は問いません。テーマに関心のある社会人の方も歓迎です。（ただし、テーマについての専門家や大学等で教鞭をとられている方は対象外とします。）講義は、すべて日本語又は英語で行われますので、両方の言語の理解力が必要です。ただし、基調講演は、一般の入場者も聴講可能で、日本語と英語の同時通訳あり。
Requirements for participation:	The seminar is open to Japanese and foreign students at Japanese universities (undergraduate/graduate students), irrespective of their major. Young professional who are interested in the theme of the seminar are also welcome to apply. We will, however, not accept applications by professionals whose work relates directly to the subject area of the seminar. Since the lectures will be delivered both in English and Japanese, knowledge of both languages is essential. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided for the public keynote lectures only.

Fee:	The participation fee of \30,000 covers accommodation, meals, and seminar documentation; transportation costs to the seminar site are not included. Foreign students not receiving a scholarship for their study in Japan may apply for a waiver of the participation fee.
修了証 ：	セミナーの全プログラムを終了し、所定の手続きを完了した参加者に対して国連大学から修了証が交付されます。
Certificate:	Each participant will receive a UNU certificate upon successful completion of the seminar.
