Dr. Ji Fusheng

Former Director-General, Department of High Technology and Fundamental Research, China; former Counselor, Permanent Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the United Nations

Ji FushengMr. Ji Fusheng, as the Director-General of Fundamental Research and High Technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology, P.R.C., was involved in the management of projects related to information technology in the National High Technology R&D Program and in many public policy issues on science and technology. He was one of the decision makers who planned the National Basic Research Priorities Programme during the period 1987 to 1999.

From 1999 to 2002 he worked for the Permanent Mission of the People's Republic of China to the United Nations as Counselor (Science & Technology). He retired from the governmental position in November, 2002. He is still active in public policy issues related to Science and Technology as a consultant to several governmental and non-governmental organizations. He is the editor of two Chinese computer science journals.

From 1991 to 1997 he was a member of the board of UNU-IIST (International Institute of Software Technology). From 1992 to 1996 he was a member of the International Advisory Group of the National Board of Science and Technology, the Republic of Singapore. He currently serves as a trustee of SciDev, an international website devoted to public policies in the area of science and technology for development.
